In a fiery exchange during Wednesdayโs House Judiciary Committee hearing on government censorship, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) delivered a scathing rebuke to Republicans, particularly targeting Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), while dropping a bombshell revelation about President Donald Trump.
The hearing, which Swalwell quipped was โa natural remedy for insomnia,โ took a sharp turn when the California Democrat accused conservative members of the committee of privately agreeing that Trump โis a child.โ
The moment came after Jordan called on Swalwell to speak, setting the stage for a clash between the two frequent political adversaries.

Government Censorship: ‘He’s a Child’
โYou were promised cheap eggs, and today youโre getting cheap shots,โ Swalwell began, his tone dripping with sarcasm. โBut Iโll give credit where itโs due. Chairman Jordan and I have had some spirited debates in this room. Sometimes they get personalโon both sides. And when I land a point, he gets upset. His staff gets upset. But you know what? He takes it like a man. He fires back, and I take it like a man.โ
Then, with a dramatic pause, Swalwell pivoted to his main target. โYou know whoย doesnโtย take it like a man? Donald Trump. Because heโs not a man. Heโs a child. A small child.โ
Swalwell, a father of three toddlers, didnโt stop there. He doubled down, claiming his firsthand experience with childish behavior gave him unique insight into Trumpโs temperament.
โI know what it looks like,โ he said. โAnd yes, censorship is happeningโbut itโs not what you think. Itโs self-censorship. Byย you.โ
Privately Agree But Lack The Courage
The Democrat then dropped his most explosive claim, alleging that Republicans on the committee privately agree with his assessment of Trump but lack the courage to say so publicly.
โI hear you in our private conversations,โ Swalwell said, his voice rising. โI hear you when you tell lobbyists, when you tell reporters, that Trump is a child. But in this room? In the chamber? You shrink. You self-censor. Because youโre afraid.โ
The room erupted in murmurs as Swalwellโs words hung in the air. His remarks not only underscored the deep divisions within the committee but also highlighted the ongoing tension between Trump and some members of his own party.
Whether his accusations will resonate beyond the hearing room remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Swalwellโs bold claims have added fuel to an already blazing political fire.
