COTABATO CITY, Philippines โ The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Cotabato Branch, has recognized the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanaoโs Ministry of Labor and Employment for its efficient management of employee insurance premium deductions and timely remittance of collections to the state pension agency.
The ministry received the GSIS Top Performing Agency Award for 2025 during a ceremony Aug. 5 at the MoLE-BARMM office at the Bangsamoro regional government center in Cotabato City.
GSIS-Cotabato Branch Manager Alexis Arumpac and other agency officials presented the citation to Labor and Employment Minister Muslimin Sema in the presence of ministry officials, including Deputy Minister Tommy Nawa and Director-General Surab Abutazil.
Arumpac said the ministry has properly-managed and remitted the employees’ contribution to GSIS on time and in accordance with established procedures. The recognition highlights the ministryโs compliance with government requirements in handling employee insurance contributions and its coordination with GSIS.
Sema is chairman of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and president of the Bangsamoro Party of the MNLF, also known as Bapa Party, one of the political parties fielding candidates in the Sept. 14 regional parliamentary elections.
The MNLF signed a peace agreement with the Philippine government on Sept. 2, 1996, with support from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The group has representatives in the 80-member Bangsamoro Parliament appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as part of the regionโs transitional government. The MNLF has also been involved in the administration of several BARMM agencies and in peacebuilding initiatives aimed at strengthening ties among Muslim, Christian and non-Moro Indigenous communities in the autonomous region.
The award reflects the continuing coordination between MoLE-BARMM and GSIS in ensuring the proper administration and remittance of government employeesโ insurance contributions.
