Authorities arrested four Chinese nationals in separate operations across the Zamboanga Peninsula over alleged fraud and immigration violations, the military said.
Hereโs what has been established so far:
Coordinated arrest
On April 14, joint operatives from the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP), Bureau of Immigration, and local police arrested three Chinese nationals along Gov. Camins Avenue in Zamboanga City.
Profile of the suspects
The threeโaged 57, 54, and 41โwere identified as natives of Fujian, China, according to the Armyโs 1st Infantry Division (1ID).
Alleged violations
Authorities said the individuals violated Philippine immigration and public documentation laws. The 1ID added they may be classified as โundesirableโ for posing risks to public interest, national security, and public order.
Separate operation in Ipil
A fourth Chinese national, 52, was arrested in a follow-up operation on April 16 in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Fake identity claim
Investigators said the suspect allegedly posed as a Filipino citizen to obtain government-issued identification and corporate papers.
Seized items
During the Ipil operation, authorities also confiscated suspected smuggled goods, including exotic animals.
Military response
Army’s 1ID Commander Major General Yegor Rey Barroquillo Jr. commended the joint teams for the arrests. He said the arrests underscore efforts to protect national security and uphold the rule of law.
Authorities have yet to disclose further details.
