Chinese National Arrested In Zamboanga Sibugay For Alleged Visa Violation

The BUUG, Zamboanga Sibugay — Authorities arrested a 52-year-old Chinese national on Tuesday for allegedly working as a manager at a business establishment without the required permits, police said.

The arrest was carried out by joint operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Immigration (BI), and the Army’s 106th Infantry Battalion in Buug town.

According to the PNP, the foreign national was apprehended by virtue of a BI mission order dated January 14. He is accused of working as a manager without a valid employment or working visa issued by the BI.

The operatives informedthe suspect of his rights during the arrest in a language he fully understood.

The Chinese national is currently under the custody of the PNP’s Regional Intelligence Operations Unit–Mindanao Intelligence Division. He will undergo proper legal proceedings.

“Violations of the law will not be ignored,” PNP Acting Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement.

This operation shows that we are serious about upholding justice.”

Nartatez added that PNP operations are “guided by intelligence and evidence to ensure the safety and security of the public.”

“Ang sinumang lalabag sa batas ay may pananagutan. Kailangang ipatupad ang batas para sa kaayusan ng ating komunidad,” he said.
