Peaceful BARMM Seaside Town Draws Interest, Emerging Investment Hub

Maguindanao del Norte – Datu Blah Sinsuat, the most peaceful seaside town in Maguindanao del Norte, is emerging as a new investment hub in BARMM. Local leaders, business groups, and parliament members credit its strong peace and security situation for attracting investors.

Datu Blah Sinsuat (DBS), touted by police and business leaders as one of the most peaceful towns in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), is becoming a “magnet” for prospective investors from outside the province.

This assessment comes from influential members of the region’s business community, including Bangsamoro Business Council chair and entrepreneur-lawyer Ronald Halid Dimacisil Torres, along with several members of the 80-seat Bangsamoro Parliament, who met at the BARMM regional center in Cotabato City to discuss the town’s emerging investment climate.

Torres, who also heads the multi-sector Regional Advisory Group of Police Regional Office–BAR, said law and order remains DBS’s strongest economic asset.

“Good peace and security is essential to creating a stable and attractive business environment in every town, city, and province – and Datu Blah Sinsuat has that,” he said.

Police Regional Office–BAR has repeatedly affirmed in recent reports that DBS is among the most peaceful municipalities in both Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur – a distinction that business leaders say directly contributes to the town’s economic momentum.

Local leadership, regional backing

One of the strongest advocates for DBS’s local peace and investment initiatives is Ramon Piang, former mayor of Upi and now a member of the Bangsamoro Parliament. Piang has been actively supporting the efforts of DBS Mayor Raida Tomawis-Sinsuat, Vice Mayor Mikhaela Marsha Sinsuat, and Maguindanao del Norte Vice Governor Marshall Sinsuat in sustaining the town’s peaceful environment and strengthening its economic prospects.

They are joined by other BARMM parliamentarians, including lawyer Suharto Ambolodto and ophthalmologist–health minister Dr. Kadil Sinolinding Jr., who are helping reinforce social services, governance systems, and development planning in the municipality.

Peace as the foundation for growth

Local officials, police commanders, and military units have maintained strong coordination in DBS – a partnership that has kept the town out of the security disruptions that have historically discouraged investment in other parts of the region.

A recent photo released by the local government shows Vice Governor Sinsuat, MP Piang, and security officials working closely on maintaining law and order – a signal, officials say, of the town’s commitment to sustained peace.

With improved stability, DBS is now positioning itself as a strategic coastal investment hub, banking on its rich fishing grounds, expanding infrastructure, and growing confidence from business groups.

As BARMM continues to promote economic transformation in its provinces, Datu Blah Sinsuat is emerging as a model of what stable governance and community cooperation can deliver: a once-sleepy seaside town quietly building its future through peace.
