IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay — One man was killed and 11 others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision involving an Elf truck, a bus, and a motorcycle at dawn on Friday, December 26, 2025.
Police said the Elf truck, which was loaded with fish and traveling from Zamboanga City to Ipil, was headed in the opposite direction of the bus and the motorcycle.
Initial investigation showed that when the vehicles reached Barangay Buluan, the truck allegedly swerved into the oncoming lane, triggering a head-on collision with the bus.
The motorcycle, which was trailing behind the bus, reportedly lost balance following the crash and slammed into the rear of the bus.
The truck driver was trapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of his companions sustained injuries.
The bus driver, six passengers, as well as the motorcycle rider and his companion were also hurt and were brought to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities said they are continuing to investigate the incident to determine accountability.
