MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office has permanently revoked the driver’s license of the operator of a Volkswagen Jetta after finding multiple violations, including driving without a valid license, using an unauthorized license plate and allowing an unauthorized person to operate the vehicle.
LTO’s latest sanctions followed another apprehension involving the same vehicle, which had previously been linked to allegations of unauthorized use of a blinker and impersonation of a diplomat.
The LTO said in a statement that its Intelligence and Investigation Division found the driver administratively liable for driving without a valid driver’s license, improper attachment or tampering of license plates, and allowing an unauthorized person to operate the vehicle.
The agency said the decision came after the Volkswagen Jetta was again apprehended for displaying an unauthorized license plate.
An inspection of the vehicle’s official receipt and certificate of registration showed that the license plate attached to the sedan did not match LTO records. Authorities said the plate was registered to another person.
The latest administrative action follows an earlier controversy involving the same vehicle, which had figured in allegations of unauthorized use of a protocol blinker and the alleged impersonation of a diplomat.
The LTO did not identify the driver or indicate whether additional criminal or administrative charges would be filed in connection with the latest violations. It also did not disclose where or when the vehicle was most recently apprehended.
