MAWAB, Davao de Oro, Philippines โ Soldiers from the Army’s 10th Infantry Division distributed relief goods to flood-hit communities in parts of Mindanao from February 20 to 21, as heavy rains displaced families in Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.
The Army division said its troops augmented local government units (LGUs) and disaster response offices to ensure the timely delivery of assistance to affected residents in Trento town, Bislig City, and Cateel.
In Trento, soldiers helped distribute 186 relief packs to residents of Barangays Manat, Kapatungan, San Isidro, and San Roque, in coordination with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.
The Army Division also deployed to an evacuation center in Barangay Tabon in Bislig City, where they assisted families temporarily displaced by adverse weather conditions.
In Cateel, troops worked with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to deliver aid to evacuees from villages affected by the shear line.
Major General Alvin Luzon, commander of the 10th Infantry Division, said the unit remains ready to sustain humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations within its area of responsibility.
โOur troops will continue to support local government units and partner agencies to ensure efficient delivery of assistance and reaches those who need it most,โ Luzon said.
The division reiterated its commitment to coordinated disaster response efforts as communities in eastern Mindanao recover from recent weather disturbances.
