DTI Distributes Livelihood Kits To 161 Flood-Hit Microentrepreneurs In Siocon
ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE – A total of 161 flood victims in Siocon town received livelihood kits from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) under its Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) Program, providing a much-needed boost for small entrepreneurs struggling to recover from recent flooding.
DTI distributed the kits on November 21, each worth P9,000, to help microbusiness owners restart operations and rebuild their sources of income. The PPG program is the agency’s post-disaster intervention aimed at supporting microenterprises affected by calamities and keeping local economic activity alive in hard-hit communities.
Microentrepreneurs Ruzzel Ludrigas and Hezeil Codoy, who both suffered inventory losses during the flood, said the assistance will help them get back on their feet.
“Dako kaayo among pasalamat sa DTI sa ilang gipaabot nga tabang kanamo ilabina kay kami naapektuhan sa baha,”
(“We are very thankful to DTI for the assistance they provided especially after the flooding that we experienced.”)
Beyond the kits, DTI said beneficiaries will undergo enterprise development training, receive business counseling and mentoring, and access additional support meant to strengthen long-term recovery and resilience.
The program is part of the government’s broader effort to help disaster-affected communities stabilize their livelihoods following increasingly frequent climate-related shocks.
