IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay โ The provincial government has launched a Unified and Centralized Radio Communication System, a province-wide network designed to enhance coordination among security, law enforcement, and emergency response agencies.
The new system links the military, police, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, disaster response units, and barangay offices under one communication platform, allowing for faster information exchange and real-time coordination during emergencies.
โCommunication is the backbone of safety and coordination. By uniting all our agencies under one system, we strengthen our provinceโs readiness, responsiveness, and resilience,โ Governor Dulce Ann Hofer said during the launch.
Hofer said the initiative boosts command and control, interoperability, and situational awareness, particularly in littoral security, counterterrorism, anti-smuggling, anti-drug operations, and disaster response.
Littoral security refers to the protection and monitoring of coastal and near-shore areas, where many criminal and security threats, such as smuggling, illegal fishing, human trafficking, and maritime terrorism, often occur.
Zamboanga Sibugayโs long and porous coastline along the Sibuguey Bay and Moro Gulf has long been a security concern, serving as a transit point for both legal and illicit maritime activity. The new communication system allows coastal barangays and security agencies to respond more swiftly to threats at sea or along the shorelines.
Hofer said the initiative complements ongoing efforts to bolster counterterrorism, anti-smuggling, anti-drug operations, and disaster response, forming part of the provinceโs broader strategy for peace and resilience.
โUnified communication and response for a safer and stronger Zamboanga Sibugay,โ she added, expressing hope that the province can become a model of preparedness and innovation, where โcommunication becomes a shared shield for community safety.โ
