COTABATO, Philippines โ€” Hundreds of pregnant women and malnourished children received food assistance during a humanitarian mission conducted on Thursday, January 29, in the newly established municipality of Ligawasan in Cotabato province.

Mayor Ismael Hashim Mama said 385 pregnant women and 107 malnourished children benefited from the relief operation led by the public service team of Bangsamoro Parliament Member Kadil Sinolinding Jr., in coordination with Bangsamoro Chief Minister Abdulrauf Macacua. The distribution took place in Barangay Bulol.

The beneficiaries received rice and other food supplies, Mayor Mama said, adding that they came from poor families in various parts of the municipality.

Sinolinding also serves as minister of health of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Barangay Bulol chairperson Maki Mamento said local officials assisted in the relief mission, along with Ligawasan Municipal Health Officer Dr. Hairhea Satol and municipal nutritionist Nur-Hassan Maguid.

Ligawasan is among the eight new municipalities under BARMM in Cotabato province, which is part of Region 12.

The offices of Sinolinding and Macacua have been jointly carrying out humanitarian missions across the eight towns, collectively known as the Bangsamoro Special Geographic Area, providing assistance to poor Muslim, Christian, and non-Moro indigenous communities.
