Pagadian City is mourning the loss of Jasper Alcala, an emergency service nurse whose life was tragically cut short while on duty Sunday, February 2.
Alcala, a dedicated nurse at Pagadian City Medical Center, died in a vehicular accident while transporting a patient to Cagayan de Oro Cityโa final act of bravery that has left his colleagues, family, and community in awe of his selflessness.

The accident occurred in Barangay Dableston, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte, when the ambulance Alcala was riding in veered off the highway and plunged into a 40-meter ravine. Witnesses and survivors recounted how Alcala, in his final moments, shielded the patient in his care, hugging them tightly and even using a pillow to protect their head as the ambulance tumbled down the ravine.
โWe give Jasper our sincerest salute. We are grateful to him. He did his job as a nurse, at the cost of his life. His commitment to saving the life of others, the life of his patient in that ambulance, will never be forgotten,โ said Pagadian City Mayor Samuel Co in a heartfelt tribute on Monday, February 3.
The driver and two other passengers survived the accident but sustained injuries. They are currently in a hospitalize for teatment.
Alcala, however, succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a legacy of courage and dedication that has touched countless lives.
