PDEA and Local Police Dismantle Drug Den, Arrest Three

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – A joint operation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Zamboanga Sibugay and the local police force led to the dismantling of a notorious drug den and the arrest of three suspects in Barangay Sanito, Ipil town, on Thursday.

The operation marks a crucial step in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs in the province.

The Raid and Arrests

PDEA-9 Regional Director Maharani Gadaoni-Tosoc identified the suspects only by their aliases: Tahir, 18, Joshua, 27, and Dan.

Authorities said Tahir and Joshua were allegedly the operators of the drug den, while Dan was caught in the act of using illegal drugs during the raid.

The anti-narcotics operatives apprehended the suspects and took them into custody.

Seized Contraband

During the operation, law enforcement agents recovered approximately 12 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), with an estimated street value of P81,600.

The operatives found the illegal substance in 20 plastic sachets, ready for distribution.

Additionally, authorities confiscated various drug paraphernalia, including tools used for repacking and consuming the illicit drugs.

Charges and Detention

The three suspects are currently detained at the Ipil Municipal Police Station, awaiting formal charges.

They will face violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, a law that imposes heavy penalties for drug-related offenses. If convicted, the suspects could face life imprisonment and hefty fines.

PDEA: A Step Forward in the War on Drugs

The operation underscores the relentless efforts of PDEA and local law enforcement to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in Zamboanga Sibugay.

“This is a clear message to those involved in the illegal drug trade: we will not stop until our communities are safe and drug-free,” said Gadaoni-Tosoc.
