MANILA, Philippines — A shear line continues to affect Southern Luzon while the northeast monsoon, or amihan, remains the dominant weather system over much of Luzon. It brings generally cloudy skies and periods of rain, state weather bureau PAGASA said Monday.
In its 4 am forecast, PAGASA said the shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and the provinces of Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate.
Meanwhile, amihan will affect Cagayan Valley, the rest of the Bicol Region, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Aurora, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon, where cloudy skies with rains are expected. Rainfall in these areas may be moderate to at times heavy, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides.
The Cordillera Administrative Region will also experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
Elsewhere in the country, localized thunderstorms are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
The state weather bureau warned that severe thunderstorms could still trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly during periods of intense rainfall.
State weather forecasters advised residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions, particularly those living in flood- and landslide-prone areas.
