Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: Thinner, Lighter, Smarter โ€” But Also Pricier

Spread the News

Samsung just redefined sleek. The tech giant has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and itโ€™s now the thinnest and lightest book-style foldable smartphone on the planet.

Measuring only 8.9mm when folded and a razor-thin 4.2mm when open, the Z Fold 7 weighs a mere 215gโ€”lighter than even the Galaxy S25 Ultra. But donโ€™t be fooled by its slim frame. Under the hood, this foldable packs flagship-level power.

Power Meets Portability

At the heart of the Z Fold 7 is the 8-core Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, coupled with 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and storage options going up to a massive 1TB. Despite its slimmer design, it houses the same 4,400mAh battery found in the thicker Fold 6. Samsung claims up to one hour more video playback, thanks to better software optimization and a reengineered cooling system.

To shave off the extra millimeters, Samsung had to rethink its design. The new Armor FlexHinge features a multi-rail structure and a water droplet curve for smoother folds. Materials were also upgraded: carbon fiber is out, replaced by Grade 4 Titanium Lattice and more durable adhesives. The phone now carries an IP48 rating for dust and water resistanceโ€”a welcome boost for foldable durability.

Bigger, Brighter Displays for Multitaskers

The Fold 7 steps up the multitasking game with larger displays:

  • 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover screen

  • 8-inch foldable inner screen

Both offer 120Hz variable refresh rates, peak brightness of 2,600 nits, and HDR10+ certification. Whether you’re streaming, editing, or just doom-scrolling, visuals look sharp and vibrant.

Typing on the wider cover screen feels more like a regular smartphone, while the expansive inner display turns the Fold 7 into a productivity powerhouse.

Samsung reinforced the device too. The cover screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, while the inner screen now has a 2x thicker Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) layer. The frame? Built with Advanced Armor Aluminum, and the back gets Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

A 200MP Camera That Means Business

In a bold move, Samsung has equipped the Fold 7 with its Ultra-grade 200MP primary cameraโ€”a major upgrade from the Fold 6โ€™s 50MP sensor. This new setup promises improved low-light performance, enhanced video detail, and overall richer image quality.

Hereโ€™s the camera lineup:

  • 200MP main camera with OIS

  • 12MP ultra-wide with autofocus

  • 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and OIS

  • Dual 10MP front cameras (cover and inner screen), now with a 100-degree field of view thatโ€™s 17.6% wider and 2.5x sharper

All cameras support 4K@60fps recording, and the main sensor goes up to 8K@30fps. Every video mode includes EIS, ensuring smoother, more stable footage.

One UI 8: Smarter and More Capable

The Fold 7 ships with One UI 8.0 based on Android 16. Expect better multitasking, tighter integration with Google Gemini, and improved AI features. The floating Gemini window now supports custom layouts, and Circle to Search works even during gameplay.

The Generative Edit feature is smarter tooโ€”it suggests what to remove from images automatically. Meanwhile, the new Audio Eraser can clean up background noise from videos, voice memos, or even notes.

Samsung commits to seven years of Android OS upgrades and security updates. As expected, the device comes with Samsung Wallet, Samsung DeX, and Samsung Knox.

Connectivity and Dual SIM Support

The Z Fold 7 is future-ready:

  • GPS, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, UWB, NFC

  • USB 3.2 Type-C port

  • Dual SIM in some markets, dual-eSIM support (but only one eSIM if youโ€™re using a physical SIM)

Price Tag: Bigger, Just Like the Phone

Now for the sting:

  • US: $1,999

  • UK: ยฃ1,799

  • EU: โ‚ฌ2,099

Thatโ€™s about $100 more than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Available colors include Blue Shadow, Jet Black, and Silver Shadow. A special Mint variant is exclusive to Samsungโ€™s online store.

Samsungโ€™s sweetening the deal for early adopters with pre-order perksโ€”though details vary by region.

Bottom line? The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is Samsungโ€™s most refined foldable yet: sleeker, more powerful, and built to multitask. But all that innovation comes at a costโ€”literally. If you’re ready to invest in the future of smartphones, this might just be it.
