Cotabato City, Philippines — The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) has expressed support for the appointment of lawyers Suharto Ambolodto and Naguib Sinarimbo as deputy floor leaders of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliament.
In a statement released Tuesday, December 16, MNLF chairman Muslimin Sema said the group is confident in the ability of Ambolodto and Sinarimbo to carry out their new roles in the regional legislature. Sema is also the current minister of the Ministry of Labor and Employment–BARMM (MoLE-BARMM).
The Bangsamoro Parliament chose the two lawyers as deputy floor leaders during a deliberation held on Thursday, December 11.
As deputy floor leaders, the two are expected to help ensure order during plenary sessions of the BARMM Parliament and strengthen coordination on legislative matters with Bangsamoro government agencies, local government units, and Muslim, Christian, and indigenous communities across the autonomous region.
Sema said the MNLF, along with personnel of the labor ministry he heads, believes the two in their new role will help advance legislative measures that promote peace, security, and humanitarian initiatives in the Bangsamoro region, which covers five provinces and three cities.
