COTABATO CITY, Philippines โ Police and local officials have recovered a motorcycle stolen from a rider who was ambushed and killed by armed men in Maguindanao del Norte last month.
Authorities said the Yamaha NMAX owned by Datuwel Diocolano was recovered on Tuesday, March 10, in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur, nearly a month after the fatal robbery.
Jaysen De Guzman, director of the Police Regional Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), confirmed the recovery on Wednesday, March 11.
According to De Guzman, the operation was carried out through the joint efforts of the municipal police, Datu Odin Sinsuat Vice Mayor Bobsteel Sinsuat, and Francisco Tugas, chief of the Shariff Aguak Municipal Police Station.
Diocolano was shot dead by armed men on February 14 along a section of the CotabatoโIsulan Highway in Barangay Margues in Datu Odin Sinsuat. The suspects took his motorcycle after the attack.
Police later tracked down the vehicle in Barangay Kuloy in Shariff Aguak during a joint operation involving PRO-BAR personnel and troops from the 6th Infantry Division.

Authorities said the operation was launched after informants reported that the suspects had sold the stolen motorcycle to a resident of the village.
Barangay officials in Kuloy assisted police in recovering the vehicle, which was immediately returned to Diocolanoโs family.
De Guzman and officials of the Maguindanao del Norte Provincial Police Office also thanked Datu Odin Sinsuat Mayor Abdulmain Abas, chair of the townโs Municipal Peace and Order Council, and Vice Mayor Sinsuat for their support in the operation.
Police have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects involved in the killing and robbery, and the investigation remains ongoing.
