COTABATO, Philippines โ€“ Villagers and local officials in three newly created towns under the Bangsamoro Special Geographic Area (SGA) in Cotabato have welcomed the repair of long-damaged classrooms, saying the project directly responds to the needs of students and teachers.

Mayors and residents of Old Kaabacan, Kadayangan, and Kapalawan expressed appreciation for the initiative led by Bangsamoro parliament member Kadil Sinolinding Jr. and Bangsamoro Chief Minister Abdulrauf Macacua.

The three towns are among eight newly established municipalities under the SGA of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, but remain geographically within Cotabato province in Region 12.

On April 15, a field public service team from Sinolindingโ€™s office conducted inspections of the repaired classrooms, confirming that the work complied with engineering specifications.

Among the schools that benefited from the project are Simone Elementary School, Nangaan High School, Madrasah Darul AHLOL Igtima Islamie Incorporated, and Madrasatol Hissatol Jarred Al-Islamie Incorporated in Old Kaabacan.

Old Kaabacan Mayor Thonicks Enalang said a joint effort between Sinolinding and Macacua carried out the repair of the classrooms, addressing long-standing infrastructure problems in local schools.

In Kapalawan, Mayor Norman Enalang also confirmed the rehabilitation of classrooms at Mahad Tarbiya Lil-Olumie Islamie in Barangay Kibayao, while Kadayangan Mayor Duma Mascud reported that residents in Barangay Kapinpilan welcomed similar repairs at Madrasah Darul Hayat Al-Islamie Incorporated.

Local officials said the upgrades have improved learning conditions, noting that many of the classrooms had been in disrepair for years.

The three mayors separately expressed gratitude to Sinolinding and Macacua, saying the project reflects responsiveness to the appeals of teachers, students, and communities in underserved areas.
