Battle of the Bands Unites Soldiers, Youth in Celebration of Peace in Sulu
LUUK, Sulu (October 27, 2025) โย Soldiers, youth, and local officials joined in a Battle of the Bands at Mans Beach Resort here on Saturday in a celebration aimed at promoting peace and unity through music.
Brig. Gen. Alaric Avelino Delos Santos, commander of the 1102nd Infantry โGanarulโ Brigade, said the event reflected Suluโs transformation from a province once scarred by conflict to one now striving for harmony and creativity.
Seven bands from across Sulu competed in the โOctober Peace Battle of the Bands 2025,โ each performing songs with messages of peace and hope.
โAs guitars strummed and voices filled the sea breeze, Mans Beach became more than a venue โ it became a stage of unity, hope, and the living sound of a peaceful Sulu,โ Delos Santos said.
He said the performances turned the evening into a celebration of both talent and solidarity, as young musicians used their music to raise awareness for peacebuilding initiatives.
Luuk Mayor Al-Makram Arbison, Brig. Gen. Delos Santos, and Lt. Col. Dante Mantes, commanding officer of the 101st Infantry โSajahitraโ Battalion, attended the event.
Delos Santos said their presence highlighted the partnership between the local government and the security sector in sustaining peace and development across Suluโs second district.
โThis is more than just a music competition,โ Delos Santos said. โIt is a symbol of transformation โ from a place once marked by conflict to a community that now celebrates life, harmony, and hope.โ
He commended the youth as โthe new voice of Suluโ and urged them to continue using their music as an instrument of peace and inspiration.
Delos Santos also thanked Mayor Arbison for his leadership and Lt. Col. Mantes for organizing the event, saying it showed that soldiers can also be peacebuilders through music. (with reports from Nonoy Lacson/ Edited: amm)
