IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in Zamboanga Sibugay is stepping up efforts to modernize public service through a stronger partnership with the provincial police.
In a courtesy visit to Police Colonel Barnard Danie V. Dasugo, provincial director of the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, DICT representatives led by Engr. Gellie A. Matulac, Project Development Officer Ridzqa A. Yacub, and Information Officer Dale E. Abalos outlined plans to integrate digital tools into law enforcement and community services.
The meeting focused on how information and communications technology (ICT) can improve efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness in policing—key concerns as communities increasingly rely on faster and more accessible public services.
DICT committed to roll out training sessions for police personnel on emerging and practical digital skills, including artificial intelligence (AI), Canva, and other online tools. The agency also signaled plans to expand the collaboration beyond law enforcement by partnering with schools for lectures and seminars aimed at boosting digital awareness among students.
Dasugo welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the role of technology in strengthening police operations and public trust. DICT officials, for their part, assured continued technical support to help modernize systems within the police force.
The coordination marks a step toward a more connected and tech-driven approach to governance in Zamboanga Sibugay, as agencies explore ways to bridge gaps in service delivery through digital innovation.
