169 Pregnant Women, Malnourished Kids In BARMM-SGA Town Receive Food Aid

COTABATO CITY, Philippinesย โ€“ A total of 169 pregnant women and malnourished children in the newly created Bangsamoro municipality of Nabalawag received food assistance from the office of a Bangsamoro lawmaker who also serves as the regionโ€™s health minister, local officials said.

The humanitarian mission, led by the office of Member of Parliament Kadil Sinolinding Jr., the regional health minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), was conducted on January 16 in Nabalawag, one of eight towns under the BARMM Special Geographic Area (SGA) in Cotabato province.

Nabalawag Vice Mayor Ping Lakaiman and Poblacion barangay chair Benjamin Abpi said 148 pregnant women and 21 malnourished children from different villages received rice and other food supplies distributed by Sinolindingโ€™s public service team.

The activity was supported by Bangsamoro Chief Minister Abdulrauf Macacua, according to local officials.

Municipal Health Officer Dr. Faiqha Jafna Usman also assisted in the implementation of the humanitarian mission.

Nabalawag is among the newly established Bangsamoro municipalities under the Special Geographic Area, which is part of BARMM but geographically located within Cotabato province in Region 12.

Records from local government units in the BARMM-SGA and the Ministry of Health-BARMM show that since 2024, more than 4,000 pregnant women and malnourished children in the Special Geographic Area have received rice, milk, and other food rations through the offices of Sinolinding and Macacua.
