COTABATO CITY โ Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) finally entrapped an elusive narcotics trafficker and seized from him P3.4 million worth of shabu during an operation in Barangay Rosary Heights 3 here on Tuesday, May 20.
The suspect, now detained at the PDEA-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) facility, is among the agencyโs top ten most wanted dealers of shabu and marijuana in Cotabato City and Maguindanao del Norte. He is tagged as a โhigh-value target.โ
Gil Cesario Castro, director of PDEA-BARMM, told reporters on Wednesday, May 21, that the suspect voluntarily surrendered after realizing he had just sold half a kilo of shabuโworth P3.6 millionโto undercover anti-narcotics agents during a clandestine transaction along Al-Salam Street in Barangay Rosary Heights 3.
Castro said the operation that led to the suspectโs arrest and the confiscation of P3.4 million worth of shabu was conducted by PDEA-BARMM operatives, with assistance from Cotabato City Police Director Col. Jibin Bongcayao and his immediate superior, PRO-BAR Director Brig. Gen. Romeo Juan Macapaz.
The suspect, now under PDEA custody in the PC Hill area of Cotabato City, will be prosecuted for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
