PIL, Zamboanga Sibugay — Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents arrested a former seafarer turned farmer tagged as a high-value target (HVT) in the regional drug trade in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Don Andres, Ipil, on Saturday afternoon, November 2, 2025.
Operatives PDEA-Regional Office 9 seized about one kilogram of suspected shabu worth ₱6.8 million from the suspect, identified only as alias Boy Blue, 46, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur.
The buy-bust was a result of a joint operation involving the PDEA Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office, PDEA Regional Special Enforcement Team 2, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) Zamboanga Sibugay, Regional Intelligence Division 9, PNP Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) Special Operations Unit 9, and the Ipil Municipal Police Station.
Authorities said the suspect, who holds a college degree and previously worked at sea before becoming a farmer, had long been under surveillance for his alleged role in supplying shabu in parts of the Zamboanga Peninsula.
They seized during the operation some 10 sachets of white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, buy-bust money, and various non-drug evidence.
The suspect is facing charges for violating Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PDEA officials said the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle regional drug networks and neutralize high-value personalities involved in the illegal drug trade.
